The market for ferries and large greener ships is booming, the electromobility hard tackles this fascinating world of water vehicles.
Just in service has entered a huge hybrid ferry, which combine a conventional engines using biodiesel or compressed natural gas with the storage technology from Corvus company and its large lithium-ion batteries, as well as some 700 meters of solar panels, which help to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The storage system of energy helps that any surplus engine power converted into electrical energy is stored in the batteries with a capacity of 1.6 MWh, the electricity helps at any time the propulsion of the ferry or other needs on board. The same work are duing the solar panels. This combined system helps reduce the use of fossil fuels, engine noise and vibration and only produce harmful emissions.
On the construction of this unique ferry has helped the Spanish company Oliver Design of Geixo in Bizkaia, an expert in work and designs of large ships.
