The ICON is a vehicle without peers for a journey without boundaries. Classic styling, modern performance, and timeless utility. Without the support of enthusiasts and patrons like yourself, such an extreme expression of design and utility would never have been possible.
ICON is designed by me, Jonathan Ward. The concept for ICON was born in response to the direction I had seen the collector market heading, as demands and expectations on classic cars grew to expect modern performance married to classic styling. My wife Jamie and I started TLC, the nations leading Land Cruiser Service center in 1996, to provide sales, service, parts and restoration services to the Land Cruiser community.
As our global reputation grew and grew, I began to work as a consultant for Toyota, and TLC began to handle special projects for Toyota ranging from outfitting vehicles for special events to eventually being asked by Mr. Toyoda to build three running and driving prototypes of what became the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Our original prototypes paid more direct homage to the Land Cruiser tradition than the exciting new FJ Cruiser. This design departure from our prototypes is what eventually made us ask ourselves the question... If we were to revisit the FJ40 our way, how would we do it? This e-bike have a frame of hydroformed aluminum, Olet aluminum and steel forks, the seat and the grips are by Brooks in back leather. Our bike has also a 160mm Shinamo Hydaulic Disc Brake in front and a regenerative brake to the rear wheel. The speed is about 20mph in street mode, and 36mph in a special version called race mode. The estimated range of the bicycle is about 30 miles, depending in how you use the engine. The lithium battery has a capacity of 52V/12,5 Ah.
The electric motor can have two versión, the street mode with 750W, or the race mode with 3500W. At time to order you have to specify the mode you prefer, as the race mode needs special permission and homologation; and you would need the license to drive motorcycles.
