Prestige Electric Car has expanded its great documentary file with the acquisition of an original catalog of 1905 from the American brand Columbia Electric Carriages made in Hartford-Connecticut.
The highlights of this catalogue are the great varity of different bodies and the huge range of different cars the company offered, as well as the list of owners of these cars on the back side of the catalogue, including names like the Gould, Guggenheim and Rothschild, between others. With this it is clear that wealthy people also approved the use of electric cars , enjoying its great advantages.
Very interesting and instructive also the first words of the introducting of this catalog: The electric carriage has many exclusive advantages. It is clean, odorless, noiseless, vibrationsless, self-starting, has nothing to freeze in cold weather, and is perfectly simple in its operation. It is the most practical automobile for all purposes where it is undesirable that the operator attend to the generation of the motive power and the working of a considerable number of mechanical parts. It is the best for ordinary city and suburban runabout service, for the requirements of the city physician, for calling and social functions, and for a large class of pleasure drivers.
